How we make money, and how we choose partners
Short version: some links earn us a commission, it costs you nothing, and it never decides what we recommend.
The links
Some links on this website and in our social media profiles are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to book or buy, the provider pays Ontrack to Explore a commission. The price you pay is the same as if you had gone to the provider directly; the commission comes out of their marketing budget, not your pocket.
Affiliate links are marked for search engines as sponsored, and pages that carry them say so at the foot of the page. We currently work with, or have applied to work with, car-hire comparison, safari operators, tour-booking platforms, accommodation sites, travel insurers and eSIM providers. The list grows as we find partners we are happy to stand behind.
How we choose
We only recommend companies we would use ourselves, or already have. Before we add a partner we check that they are properly licensed or bonded, that their reviews are consistent over time and not just at launch, and that their cancellation and refund terms are fair. If a partner's service drops, the link comes down.
Commission rates never decide a recommendation. Where two partners sell the same thing, we tell you how to compare them and let you choose.
What we do not do
We do not sell your details. We do not accept payment for positive coverage without saying so, and sponsored content, if we ever publish any, will be labelled as sponsored at the top of the page. We are not a travel agent and do not take bookings or payments: every booking is made with the provider, under their terms.
